Clic-Clac Berry Blast Gum

We've been waiting a long time for a hard-hitting competitor to Juicy Fruit in the fruit flavored gum market. Clic-Clac Gum is Denmark's answer to our quiet patience. If you are a fan of fruity gum, you're in for a treat.

First of all, let's be honest, the package has a lot going for it. Far more durable than your regular foil-wrapped stick of gum, Clic-Clac comes in a small round tin that works much like the safety button on the top of your favorite glass jar. Push the button in the middle, click! open the tin and enjoy the gum. Squeeze the sides of the lid, clac! the lid is firmly attached and keeps your gum safe until next time. Great fun to clic, and clac, even when no gum is desired.

But, we all know that beauty is only skin deep. What about the gum inside the tin? Really, it's great. Small white squares (the package actually says two make a serving) with a very pleasant berry flavor. The label depicts a strawberry flanked with blueberries and cherries, and we have no trouble believing them. According to the nutrition information on the back, this gum is sugar free, so you skip the sugar-granules-dissolving stage that most gum goes through. As with anything good, the flavor doesn't last as long as you want it to, but you also get to skip the saccharin-strong aftertaste that comes with (ahem) other fruit-flavored gums.

One more thing about the packaging. It states very clearly in two places (which is a lot for such a small package) that this gum is not for weight control. So, just in case you were planning to substitute this for a cheeseburger, well, go ahead and try it. Just don't complain if you're still hungry afterwards.
